IMPERO PIZZA & NATURA looks back on a long and eventful history. It all began with Giuliano Cortelletti in the 1950s. The young hotelier, after training and newly married, moved to Lake Garda to open a hotel. But even more appealing was nearby Verona and its gastronomy. In 1968, Giuliano Cortelletti bought the “Alla Costa” restaurant in Verona, where the first pizza in all of Verona had been baked just six years earlier. He thus laid the foundation for the successful and prosperous family business, which was taken over by his son Michael Cortelletti in 2009.

We are deeply rooted in Verona and Veneto: this is where our exceptional pizza dough recipes were developed. Plus, the ingredients come from the region. For example, we source our spelt flour from Antico Molino Rosso in the Po Valley. Founder and CEO Michael Cortelletti believes so strongly in the region as well as the high quality of the products made here that he has also invested in two artisanal beverage brands.

Impero Pizza & Natura founder Michael Cortelletti is a practitioner, analytical practitioner and analyst all in one. Born in Germany, raised in Italy and at home in both cultures, he learned the pizza trade from scratch at a young age and later held international management positions in large gastro systems such as Nordsee GmbH and Dunkin’ Brands. His great passion: helping others to succeed as a business angel.
